At sessions of several days a digester should not be missing. Is it to cook a cup of coffee some times or a complete menu. With me in the last years two different models worked satisfactorily. First the gas digester Bleuet 206 by Camping Gaz and second the gasoline digester Sportster 533 by Coleman. Advantages and disadvantages of the digesters are represented in the following table:

Digester Advantages Disadvantages
Bleuet 206 clean handling, well adjustable flame, no cleaning necessary. bad fuel performance at low temperatures, wind susceptibly, cartouche quite expensiv
Sportster 533 very good fuel performance at all temperatures, fuel cheap nozzle must be cleaned sometimes, become rather dirty pots, smelling nuisance when cooking

A further disadvantage of the gas digester is that that you have to take some cartouches as reserve with. If you use a gasoline digester, after my experiences, a tank filling for a weekend session is sufficient completely. For security you can take another fuel latch with. As comparison to consumption still another example. Nico and I were a whole week at a lake and there, beside some cups of coffee and great dose meal, we also cooked some kilogramms of boilies and corn. The entire week I cooked with a litre gasoline, while Nico used 4 cartouches. But, where many advantages are there are alos disadvantages. The in my opinion largest is that a gasoline digester smokes at the start strongly and because of that the pots, pans and other mess become dirty. Caution is required while handling the gasoline, because the fish do not love the smell.

Despite the disadvantages I use the gasoline digester for approximately one year exclusively, since the higher fuel performance and the cheaper fuel speak for itself. Gas digester has a further disadvantage. The cartouches must be thrown into the garbage after they are empty. In the winter you have almost no chance with a gas digester, since the necessary printing cannot be structured. The only chance is preheating in the sleeping bag. It is to be noted that cartouches are not available everywhere and if you are out of gas you are lost. Cold soup of the tin does not taste.....

The digesters can be bought in a well sorted sports shop or at a outdoor shop.
A small tip still at the edge. By the use of a wind protection you can reduce the fuel requirement and shortens the boiling time substantially.
Note: Do not use digesters in the tent because of fire.
